The John O’Shea-trained Zabrasive is quickly becoming a strong contender for the 2010 Caulfield Cup to be run on October 16, so if you want to punt on the early market caulfield cup odds head to an online bookmaker.
The four-year-old ran a solid barrier trial at Randwick earlier this month to finish third. Impressive seeing as the gelding has been off the track since April.
Zabrasive is sitting at $17 in the early market odds for the 2010 Caulfield Cup prize, and will only see his odds shorten, so make the most of them now!
O’Shea has never trained a Caulfield Cup winner, but has all confidence that his $500,000 Group One Rosehill Guineas (2000m) champion will provide him the goods.
The gelding’s campaign for the 2010 Caulfield Cup will begin on August 28 when he competes against a top quality field in the $200,000 Group Two Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.
Rounding out the gelding’s run up to the Caulfield Cup will be the $350,000 Group One Underwood Stakes (1800m) on September 18 backed up with the $500,000 Group One Turnbull Stakes (2000m) on October 2.
However the Memsie Stakes could provide a pivotal moment for Zabrasive as he faces fellow 2010 Caulfield Cup favourite, the unstoppable Shoot Out.
Shoot Out has put in two stunning runs of late, dominating fields in both the Group Three Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) and the Group Two JJ Liston Stakes (1400m).
The Australian Derby winner is at $13 for the 2010 Caulfield Cup prize and has the edge over Zabrasive in recent match ups.
The four-year-olds met three times during the Autumn Racing Carnivals as three-year-olds. Shoot Out came away with two wins (Australian Derby and Randwick Guineas) and Zabresive with one (Rosehill Guineas).
